BIO
ANGIE SAIZ (Santiago, Chile. 1977). Is a visual artist graduated from the Universidad de Chile with a degree in Fine Arts and Cinema. She works in the fields of photography, publishing, public intervention, video installation and sound art. Her work addresses aesthetic issues based on the biographical imaginary, the convergences and crisis between old and new technologies, as well as the concepts of trauma, limbo, and ruin. The artist has exhibited in important venues and galleries in Chile, such as MAC, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo; MAVI, Museo de Artes Visuales, and the Galería Metropolitana; and has carried out exhibitions, art residencies and curatorial works in Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and the United States. Her work integrates public and private collections belonging to distinguished venues and institutions, such as: the MAM, Museo de Arte Moderno de Chiloé, and the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, in Chile; the Neon Heather Gallery, in the United States; the Plomo Gallery, in Mexico; Fundación Memorial Da América Latina, and the Galería Marta Traba, in Brazil.
Along with her own artistic production, Angie Saiz has trained in art self-management and self-promotion at venues such as the Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo in Chile, the SOMA Educational program, and the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico, as well as freelance. Since 2010, she has been working as a consultant and content producer for applications and calls for funding and management in public and private spaces, for institutions and galleries, as well as for independent artists and cultural associations. Has worked as a producer and curatorial assistant in Chile, Brazil and Mexico for over 15 years, carrying out exhibition design, publishing and managing exhibition projects, as well as assisting diverse artists in their creative processes, production, promotion and exhibition of their work. Her career has also included working as a producer and production assistant and art director in the performing and media arts; copy editing for several projects; visual content and publishing for social media arts promotion; graphic design for portfolios and dossiers; recording, editing and post-production in photography, video, and sound.
